Bed Surface Moves with the Cow’s Skin

Unlike solid rubber, canvas covered crushed rubber, or foam covered with canvas, all stationary surfaces, and the surface of the DUAL CHAMBER COW WATERBED is always flexible and moving with the cow’s skin.  The flexible surface moves with the cow’s pressure points preventing skin abrasions and hock swelling.  An analogy that is easily understood is this:  An individual enters a hospital for a long period of bed rest.  They are immediately put on a bed surface that moves with their skin. This prevents bed sores from forming.  The very same thing happens to a cow on a waterbed.  Her skin moves with the stall surface preventing abrasions, swelling and sores.

Bed Surface Remains Moisture and Bacteria Free

The convex nature of the DUAL CHAMBER COW WATERBED prevents urine and milk from laying on the surface.  The moisture runs to the side or the rear of the bed leaving a moisture free surface.  A dry clean moisture free surface does not allow for bacteria growth.

Bed Surface Flexes Preventing Manure Build Up

The DUAL CHAMBER COW WATERBED surface is always flexing with the movement of the cow.  The beds are dry thus any manure that might be on the surface as a result of the cow tracking the manure from the alley does not have a chance to collect. The movement of the stall surface aerates the residual manure left after the stalls are scraped clean.  Residual manure left after piles are scraped from the rear of the stalls will dry and turn to dust with the movement of the stall surface. 

Waterbed Will Not Pack

Water by its very nature will always return to its original shape.  When the cow falls to her knees on the front bladder or her hips on the rear bladder of a DUAL CHAMBER COW WATERBED the original cushion effect will be there for the life of the bed.  Unlike crushed rubber and foam beds that form compressed pockets for urine and milk to collect in, waterbeds always retain their shape and move moisture away from the bed surface.

Waterbeds are Durable through Both Winter and Summer

In cold climates the cow warms the rubber of the DUAL CHAMBER COW WATERBED with her body heat.  The rubber retains the heat for a long period of time.  In addition the concrete beneath the waterbed is always a temperature of 40-45 degrees Fahrenheit.  The concrete is not frozen thus it does not pull the heat away from the waterbed.  In the summer the cow drives heat into the rubber.  The air is already hot so it does not take the heat away.  The concrete beneath the waterbed is a stable 40-45 degrees. The heat of the cow dissipates through the waterbed and is drawn to the cool concrete thus cooling the waterbed.

Waterbeds are Easy to Install in a Variety of Barns

DUAL CHAMBER COW WATERBEDS come in widths from 42 to 54 inches wide.  Installing waterbeds requires rolling them into place, fastening the ends of each run with a stainless steel strip and the head end with an aluminum strip, filling them and securing the fill tube.  If you can operate a hammer drill and swing a hammer, you too can install waterbeds.

Long Lasting

The natural rubber belting reinforced with ply’s of fiber offer a very tough wear resistant product.  When water is introduced in the center of this rubber belting the resilient surface becomes very forgiving to movement of the cow’s skin.  DUAL CHAMBER COW WATERBEDS perform the same year after year.

Minimal Bedding Required

Other man made bed surfaces require massive amounts of bedding to take up moisture and to act as a buffer between the stationary bed surface and the cow’s skin.  DUAL CHAMBER COW WATERBEDS allow urine and milk to roll off the bed surface thus bedding is not needed to absorb moisture.  DUAL CHAMBER COW WATERBEDS float with the cow’s skin thus bedding is not needed to act as a buffer between the cow and the bed.  Do most people use some bedding?  Yes, but far less than with stationary stall bed surfaces.
